Commentary Posters
During many years of practice Doris has been considering questions from clients, students, colleagues, and herself. These commentary posters are her response to questions asked about her life as an architect. The posters consist of exploratory text and small abstract watercolors that are scanned, combined, and enlarged in the computer. They are about architecture and related matters relevant to the past, present, and future of an architect. These posters represent the thoughts and experiences of one architect, Doris Cole. However, this one architect represents the many seeking to practice architecture and to understand the world around them. The very nature of these posters, combining the hand-made and machine-made, represents the constant challenge of architecture.
